I can see why this is a highly rated place to stay in a very interesting town. It wasn’t easy to find, but we had GPS, which helped us to figure out the very narrow residential streets you drive to get there.
Once there, we got a hearty welcome by Ileana Kolanovic. You couldn’t find anyone more helpful! She got us settled in the comfortable apartment, gave us suggestions, pamphlets, maps and fliers, and I spent much of the evening just chatting with her.
This apartment building is fairly new, the apartment we had was 2 bedrooms (very small) plus a kitchen/sitting area with a small balcony. It wasn’t that large, but perfectly adequate. I made a nice dinner in the kitchen 1 night; it had everything you’d need. Downstairs in the building is a little sitting area + computer, with wireless internet as well.
I highly recommend Apartmani Petra while in Zadar. We found the place using GPS, but I do know that if you get lost, you can call Ileana and she’ll go meet you and lead you there! She’s a great gal, and so helpful, and an interesting conversationalist. We would stay there again if in that area.
Zadar was a cool town- I found it to be one of the most likeable of the Croatian cities we visited in our 2 weeks in the country. Not as crowded, beautiful churches, the sea organ is really neat, and it’s a pretty city to walk in (and to, via the pedestrian bridge).

We had an excellent experience during out stay here. The hostess, Ileana is so welcoming and helpful. At times she seems to not only wish to help, but she seems to be anxious to help. We arrived late at night and by email she had given us directions to the nearest bus stop (a 5 to 10 minute walk), and we called as we got off the bus, she walked and met us so we would not get lost fiding the place in the dark (which we surely would have as it is set back in a more residential area making several turns from the main road). The location is not great, but its not bad, the bus is convenient and if you have a car then it doesn't matter. It's a 5 minute walk to the beach and a little over half an hour walk to the old town. The accomadations themselves are wonderful. It appears to have been recently renovated, as many of the furnishings and even the light fixtures and bathroom tiles are all of a very modern style and very clean, practically immaculate. Our studio had a nice kitchenette area and a balcony with an absolutely amazing view over the water. Incredible sunsets each night viewed from the balcony. There is also a laptop downstairs with free internet access. The only drawback, but is really just part of staying in more of a guest house style, is that due to the tile floor and high ceilings, especially in the hallways, every slight noise is amplified and echoed. Our first night the people in the room next to ours had annoying yippie dogs that started barking at 5 am. The other nights we were the only guests and it was fine, but I might be concerned about the noise level in the event of a full house. All in all, I would highly recommend this hotel, especially when considering the cost compared to some of the more traditional style hotels closer to the town. It's a wonderful value and the hostess could not be more gracious and helpful, it's almost worth staying here if only to experience the hospitality.

My husband and me were staying in this apartment in late April 2009. We were both impressed by the motivation, professionalism and hospitality of the owners, as well as with the accommodation itself. The lady owner was very kind and always at hand to help. The place was very clean, everything worked properly, and parking spot for our car was provided. We have nothing but nice words for this family and apartment.

The host Ileana makes you feel extremely welcome from the start and nothing is too much trouble. She even brought homemade pancakes to our room on Sunday morning. When I asked where I could do my washing she let me use her machine and then brought a drying rack to our room. There is excellent complimentary wifi internet and internet access in the lobby. Our apartment was very comfortable with a well equipped kitchen so we could save money by cooking all our own meals. We enjoyed eating on the lovely balcony. The building is very secure and in a nice middle class area. It is five minutes walk to the bus-stop and then a 10 minute ride into the middle of town. Overall unbelievably good value and highly recommended to anyone needing affordable and comfortable accommodation in Zadar.

Found Apartments Petra by chance serching the internet because my previous booking fell through, and I was getting slightly deperate. Now all I can say is that I am more than pleased I lost the other booking!!!
Apartment that my sister, her two grand daughters and I stayed in, was absolutely lovely.
First thing I noticed as I walked through the door was how nice and tastefully it was decorated, and then as I walked into the bathroom there were beautiful, white, thick towels on the rails....After a long day travelling they looked most inviting!!!

Apartment was furnished with everything needed for a very comfortable stay. Outside, there is a barbecue area that we could use (although we didn't)it was at our disposal. Parking was also secure, within the property grounds and under the shaded pergolas.
We booked 12 days and ended up staying 17 instead. The hospitality of the owners was way above the expected, there wasn't a thing we could wish or ask for that they didn't help us with. The day I was due to leave, since there were no guests staying after me in the apartment, Mrs Kolanovic kindly allowed me to stay untill the evening because my plane wasn't untill late, and theneven offered me a lift to the airport, which I gratefully accepted.
We had most enjoyable stay at Apartmani Petra and are planning to return next year because everything was so close to get to from there.
Beach is a few minutes away, walks along the beach for hours in either direction. It took me an hour to get to Zadar on foot along the beach, most enjoyable early in the morning. Most relaxing holiday for a very long time and in largest part thanks to our hosts. We will be back next year again !!!
ps.Even though I arrived at 22.30 it wasn't too much trouble for Mrs.Kolanovic to make me a cup of coffee and get me a cold drink before she took me to my apartment.

My girlfriend and I were traveling throughout Croatia and had prearranged accommodations throughout our stay. We had booked Apartments Petra online and really had no idea what to expect until we got there. The wonderful website looked great and that was all we really had to go by. Our stay there ended up being more than we had expected.
To get there we had flown into Dubrovnik where we rented a car and drove up the coast, thru Split and then onto Zadar. What an amazing drive that was. The coast of Croatia is breathtaking with plenty of great spots to stop along the way. We arrived in Zadar late at night which of course caused us to get pretty lost. After I finally succumbed to my girlfriend’s pressure to ask for directions, I made a call to the Apartments Petra to steer me in the right direction. They asked me to describe where I was so I did my best. They told me not to worry that they knew exactly where I was and instead of giving me directions they told me they would meet me right where I was and I could follow them back to the place. In all my travels that was a first for me. They went out of there way to help us get to Apartments Petra. This kind of assistance and hospitality continued throughout our stay there. Whatever we needed they were always more than happy to help. Like I had mentioned before I really had no idea what the place would be like, I was simply going off the pictures on the website. Well the apartments were, in reality, just as good if not better than they looked on the web. It really felt like our little home for the week we had stayed there.
Oh one more thing that made the stay even better was various types of homemade brandy. Defiantly a nice touch after sight seeing all day and don’t be shy to ask for more, they will be more than accommodating and it will be taken as a great compliment.
