All comments are true. Ileana is the most welcoming hostess I have ever met. She walks with you to the beach, to the restaurant , to the bus stop. She rescued two Irish people who could not find their accommodation; brought them to her apartment to use the internet the walked them to their apartment. A lovely lady. We had a studio. Perfect for two with a lovely view and a fine balcony. Spotless. We highly recommend this apartment.
Remember to bring water shoes, or crocs as most beach areas are stony. hard on the feet but once in the water is warm and clear.

Ileana was very welcoming, with maps of Zadar, restaurant recommendations and her home made cherry brandy.
The apartment was spacious, very clean and had stunning viewe of the Adriatic. Breakfast on the balcony was a particular pleasure.
Only slight downside is its a couple of miles to the old town but this seems standard for virtually all accomodation in Zadar. Plus there is plenty of parking in the town, frequent buses for the short journey or its a cheap taxi (although worth booking on a sat as in short supply).
Would happily visit again.

I picked this placed based on the reviews I'd read and I must say I was not disappointed at all. Ileana Kolanovic is such a wonderful host. She makes you feel comfortable and welcomed. The apartment was extremely clean, big and had all the amenities one would require during their stay. Yes it was difficult to find the place and it took us almost 30 mins to locate it but if you have a GPS or a phone there's nothing to worry about. Upon arrival Ileana greeted us with her special "Sherry" drink which was truly yummy. She also did not take the money upfront and told us to pay when we leave and just enjoy her place and surroundings. It takes about 10 mins to get to Old Town and I much preferred living in the Borik area (where the apartment is located) rather than in Old town especially since I had a car and parking is expensive outside the Old town gates. The beach is literally 2 mins away and the breeze from the sea is just wonderful. By staying at Ileana's I did not have to worry about parking as she has a pretty big parking accommodation. The price we paid for this place is a steal and I would absolutely recommend living here rather than a hotel. It's like a home away from home.

Dear Danijela,
I just want to say a very big thank you to you and Ileana for all your assistance in helping us organise our holiday to Zadar as well as looking after us so well during our holiday. Your mother in-law was very generous and helpful so please pass on our greatest thanks to her. The apartment was clean and very comfortable and we had a fantastic holiday.
If you are ever in London, please contact us and we will be more than happy to look after you. We hope to return to Zadar soon!
Best,
Minnie

I stayed in aparment 1 (2+2) and I fully recommend this appartment, Ileana the mos frendly person I found in Croacia. When we arrived she had prepared broschures for us about the city, things to do in Zadar and explained us everything that we needed, bus lines, restaurants, supermarket, bus ticktets, taxi, etc.
The aparment is very clean, in the house there is a computer with internet for the guests (free of charge), the apartment has one air conditioner in the living room. The only thing is that one of the room has a sofa not a bed.
The place is really calm but a bit far from the old town, may be 30 minutes walking. We used bus, the ticket for two persons is 13 kunas. Also for going to the beach can take you 10 minutes walking. But for the price I really recommed this pleace.

As many other reviews say, Ileana, the live-in manager of the apartment block, is the main reason why staying at Apartmani Petra is so enjoyable.
We stayed in A6, a 2-bed apartment, for 4 nights for less than 40 euro a night (off-season price and extremely good value for money). We arrived on the late Ryanair flight from Stockholm so Ileana organised a pizza delivery for us.
During our stay she walked us to the beach and the bus stop to show us where to go, recommended places to go, played with our daughter and, because it was my partner's birthday, took me on a taxi trip to buy roses and cooked special birthday pancakes, which were delicious!
The location is good for getting down to the beach, but it was too early in the year for us to sunbathe and swim (though it was over 20 degrees and sunny every day). To get to the old town requires a walk and a bus, which was OK but felt a bit too long sometimes if you didn't time it right. I think the buses get more regular in the summer.
A taxi back to the apartments was about 90 kuna and was pretty quick - take a business card with you and learn the name of the pizzeria close to the apartments (sort of pronounced Shimi, good, large child-friendly place which we went to twice) and the driver will find the apartments without a problem.
The apartment building was fine - free internet at a computer downstairs, small garden with a swing and olive trees out the back and very peaceful. Our 2-bed apartment was at the top of the building, and we had a beautiful sea view.
Rooms were very clean, bathrooms excellent and the kitchen well equipped. The only real minus point was the size - the bedrooms were small (but both had good wardrobes) and though there was a TV in the kitchen there wasn't enough room for a sofa, which would have been a bonus.
Zadar itself was a great town to visit - our daughter loved the sea organ and we went back to listen to it three or four times! There's plenty to look at and great cafes and restaurants which meant that we had no problem filling a four-day break. Bit of advice, Zadar shops close early on Sunday afternoon so if you arrive late on Saturday like we did, get your grocery shopping done on Sunday morning!
Would definitely recommend staying here!
