ACTIVE VACATION
Rafting
The River Zrmanja, with its adjoining River
Krupa, is regarded as one of the most beautiful
rivers in Croatia. With its green color
mixed with its steep canyons, exciting rapids
and the Velika Buka (the Great Noise) a
13 meter waterfall, the river is a breathtaking
sight. The best time to experience the Zrmanja
rafting is after large amounts of rain fall
or just after the snow melts. One can experience
an amazing category 5 rafting in Croatia
on the Zrmanja River if weather conditions
are followed carefully. www.rafting.com.hr
Diving
Of the entire Dalmatia
archipelago, Zadar has the most islands.
Advantages include great weather conditions
due to the shelter from the wind and waves
which provide for safe and clear diving
conditions. The special features of the
Zadar archipelago are the great number of
underwater rock walls, reefs, and caves
often times full of fish especially in the
geological area along the Kornati wall.
The high indentedness
of the coast along with over 200 different
islands, numerous straits, channels, coves,
and amiable climate makes Zadar’s archipelago
a real paradise for nautical lovers. Zadar’s
archipelago does not only include the Kornati,
it also includes several islands such as
Olib, Silba, Premuda, Skarda, Ist, Molat,
and Sestrunj island. If traveling North,
a long line of smaller islands offer many
opportunities to learn about the local population,
traditions, and culture which has not changed
in many years.
